Thai

Lately, I've had a quite strong resurgence in, what I will term, my "second" wave of Thai binges...second, because I had had one early in the year, however it was not exactly as well developed as this second wave. Lately, it has consisted of Pad Thai,
Coconut Ginger Rice Noodles, Mango Chicken with Bamboo Shoots, and Thai Iced Tea, which is, at least, a tri-weekly thing for me to now enjoy. There's something enrapturing about the Thai palette...spicy, while sweet and sour - it's basically, what I would define as the perfect food flavor.

Night of Flavors

Tonight, dinner was spent at Pazzo, which is at 326 Court Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Small, gothic-esque, baroque, themed, and unique the restaurant is. I had, first, the Baby Arugula Salad, which was more of a behemoth of a salad than a "baby" - prosciutto, slices of actual freshly-cultured mozzarella cheese, roasted red peppers, all on a bed of baby arugula with a balsamic vinaigrette.

The main course, as they were out of Pork Pot Stickers with the Ginger-Soy Sauce (which I would have also gotten a side of my usual cup of [amazing] Crab Bisque), consisted of pan-braised Sea Scallops over Garlic-Mashed Butternut Squash...I don't even like squash, but this stuff was tantalizing; I'm now proud to say that I am a squash-eater. Dinner was polished off with a hearty slice of thick and sinful Tiramisu...with marscapone cream about as thick as the ricotta cheese in a canoli. I would be willing to bet this little 5"x5" square of dessert had more calories than a mac truck carrying Wal-Mart's month supply of in-store Pepsi products - yes, the Tiramisu was THAT good.

Such a Slacker...

I can't even believe I have delayed so much in, well, blogging in general...BUT, especially this blog as it is probably one of the most interesting reads of the 21st Century...well, maybe that's not too entirely correct...most interesting reads of all time - that's better.  And, how can one eat so much good stuff and not blog it for so long?  For this action, I chastise myself with a steel-toe boot and punish myself to hard labor of cleaning five thousand forks that have been beladen with dried oatmeal.  Anyway, on too the good stuff...

Yesterday
  • Lunch at Lock Haven University for 2006's Constitutional Convention consisted (for me) of a Mojave Wrap (refried beans, corn, rice, lettuce, tomato, and hot sauce) and a bottle of Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino.
  • Dinner was prepared by Dad, who crafted a deliciously light evening meal of bacon-wrapped scallops, large spiced butterfly shrimp, and a fried vegetable medely of mushrooms, asparagus, and russet potatoes - all amazing.
Today
  • Lunch at LHU for the second day of Con Con was a little less unorthodox, but included a new product - a small Quiznos Black Angus toasted sub with new Blazin' Buffalo Ranch Doritos (yummy, but not as good as the new Habanero Doritos) and a Pepsi (had been a while since I had satiated the requirement of this addiction to cola).
  • Dinner? - a lack-luster salad devoid of dressing (intentially), and a "sampler plate" of my Dad's pretty delicious beef roast with potatoes and perfectly-roasted carrots.
Tomorrow looks prospective as it is expected that I will attend a dinner with several others at the Olive Garden; I'm not exactly sure what I will have yet, but you can guarantee that I will dive at the opportunity to have something so multifaceted and three-dimentional in flavor that it will make your chest cavity burst with feelings of need, want, and coveting ;-)

The Enrapturement of Cilantro-Lime

Health Splurge

After discovering the empowerment that wheat bulgar and 12-grain bread has to offer, I've decided to take the month of June and turn my slight flab into [at least] a two-pack. I kicked it off with some Greek Taboule salad fused with a Greco-Italian parmesan-ed peppercorn baguette served with a little tzatziki and a classic Coca Cola (seen below).
Not pictured is my breakfast, which was a simple slice of the 12-grain bread topped with strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, and nectarine, drizzled with new orange blossom honey. I'd say those are pretty damned natural to me. For the first two days of my switch from non-biodegradable school-lunch shit to this easily-digestible diet, my body seems to have gone through a period of detox as I felt like pure shit the first few days. The feelings were of food-poisoning aftershocks - glad these said symptoms have subsided, otherwise I may have suffered a relapse into mechanically-processed Mystery Meat and fat-infused questionable desserts.

Healful vs. Unhealful vs. My Stomach

My dinner consisted of a.) a small Mint Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen and b.) a 20oz Coca Cola Classic from the Turkey Hill. But...it is O.KAY. I had an APPLE for breakfast ;-) Stick that in your waffle-maker and smoke it.

eatery nyc's best

Although it will have been over a year since I've been to the eatery nyc by August, It is still necessary to tell that which has become my favorite appetizer this world has yet to offer my versatile tastbuds: Chipotle Corn Perogies. They are served with Jack Cheese and Tobasco Sour Cream...just typing "Tobasco Sour Cream" makes my mouth water for such a complexly cool flavor. If only there were a picture I could bequeath you...

Starbucks-Inspired

After watching a small special about the success of Starbucks on "60 Minutes" last night (WITHOUT Barbara Walters...wtf is THAT about?! I LOVE her!), after the talk of the Caramel Macchiatos, after the chit chat of steamed milk and latte foam...I decided to mix my own fucking beverage:

  • 3 tbsp. Starbucks Sumatra Ground Coffee
  • 1 tbsp. Starbucks Gingerbread Syrup
  • 2 tsp. Caramel Ice Cream Topping
  • 3 tbsp. Milk
  • 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon

Needless to say, it was fucking excellent and shall be made again...maybe with heavy cream and vanilla next time though?
